David A. Cook, MD
Clinical practice in the San Ramon and Walnut Creek offices.
Dr. Cook completed his pediatric residency as well as his Allergy/Immunology fellowship at University of California San Diego. He then relocated to the Bay Area and has been with Allergy and Asthma Medical Group since 1980. He, along with Dr. Schultz, developed the clinical research division of AAMG. He was an Associate Clinical Professor at UCSF for 20 years, having resigned recently. Dr. Cook is also Past President of the American Lung Association of Contra Costa and Solano Counties, the Allergy Association of Northern California, the Allergy Foundation of Northern California, and the Western Society of Asthma, Allergy and Immunology. He is a member of the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology and the Western Society of Asthma, Allergy and Immunology.
Dr Cook enjoys cycling, golf, theatre, and spending time with his wife; his daughter, who is a physical therapist and lives with her husband in New York; and his son, who is nearly done with a doctorate in psychology and will be working as a college psychologist.

Joshua S. Jacobs, MD
Clinical Practice in Walnut Creek and Brentwood offices.
Dr. Jacobs completed his Internal Medicine residency at David Grant USAF Medical Center, then his fellowship in Allergy/Immunology at Wilford Hall USAF Medical Center in San Antonio, TX. He completed nine years of service in the USAF and was the former Chief of Internal Medicine for the 28th Medical Group at Ellsworth AFB in South Dakota. Dr. Jacobs joined Allergy and Asthma Medical Group in 1999. He is the Medical Director of Allergy and Asthma Clinical Research, Inc. He is a member of the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology; American College of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology; American Thoracic Society; European Academy of Allergy and Clinical Immunology; and President of the Western Society of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology. Dr. Jacob’s areas of interest are the treatment of chronic sinusitis, atopic dermatitis/food allergy, asthma and primary immunodeficiency.

Nancy B. Mozelsio, MD
Clinical practice in the Pleasanton and Walnut Creek offices.
Dr. Mozelsio attended the University of California Irvine, where she completed her undergraduate training. After graduation, she became a board certified Clinical Medical Technologist and worked for several years as a clinical microbiologist, as well as conducted AIDS research. However, the lure of medicine drew her to attend medical school at UC Irvine. She then traveled to Chicago and completed an Internal Medicine residency and a combined adult and pediatric Allergy/Immunology fellowship at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. While in Chicago, she worked as an Emergency Department attending physician at the Lakeside VA Hospital. Dr. Mozelsio joined Allergy and Asthma Medical Group in 2001. She is a sub-investigator on several studies in the clinical research division. Dr. Mozelsio is a member of the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology; the American College of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology; the Western Society of Asthma, Allergy and Immunology; and the Allergy Association of Northern California.
Dr. Mozelsio’s outside interests include gardening, reading, watching baseball and basketball, and spending time with her husband and teenage son.

Matthew J. Lodewick, MD
Clinical practice in the Berkeley and San Ramon offices.
Dr. Lodewick is a University of California graduate. At Berkeley, he studied Comparative Literature and Molecular and Cell Biology. He then went to join his family in Alabama and studied medicine at the University of Alabama in Birmingham. Seattle was Dr. Lodewick’s next stop where he spent several years. He completed a pediatric residency at the Children’s Hospital of Seattle and the University of Washington. He remained with the University of Washington to finish a fellowship in both Adult and Pediatric Allergy/Immunology. After completing his fellowship, Dr. Lodewick continued in Seattle where he was Clinical Instructor of Allergy/Immunology at the Children’s Hospital of Seattle and worked in private practice with Northwest Asthma and Allergy. However, the lure of working with his colleagues here at Allergy and Asthma Medical Group and returning to the Bay Area drew him back to the East Bay in 2004. Dr. Lodewick is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics; Allergy Association of Northern California; and fellow of the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology. His special interests are asthma, vocal cord dysfunction, and food allergy.
When not in the office, you will find Dr. Lodewick enjoying his family, probably on a bike, on a trail, or with a book in hand.

Barbara A. Karpel, MD
Clinical practice in the San Ramon and Pleasanton offices.
Dr. Karpel completed her residency at Montefiore Hospital Medical Center and her Allergy/Immunology fellowship at University of California San Francisco. She has been a physician with Allergy and Asthma Medical Group since 1982. She currently serves as Treasurer of the Allergy Foundation of Northern California. Dr. Karpel is a member of the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology; Allergy Association of Northern California; and California Society of Allergy and Clinical Immunology. Dr. Karpel has a special interest in the area of food allergies.
Dr. Karpel's interests include travel, studying French, and sports, including skiing, water-skiing, sailing, wind surfing and diving.

Fannie W. Su, MD
Clinical practice in the Brentwood office.
Dr. Su completed her undergraduate education at the University of California, Berkeley, and then returned home for medical school at the University of Illinois. She then completed her Internal Medicine residency and Allergy/Immunology fellowship at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine in Chicago. Dr. Su joined Allergy and Asthma Medical Group in 2005. Dr. Su is a member of the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology and the American College of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology.
When she is not practicing allergy, Dr. Su enjoys her other part-time challenging job – taking care of her two young boys. She also likes cooking, piano, spending time outdoors and traveling with her family.

Allyson Tevrizian, MD
Clinical practice in the Pleasanton office.
Dr. Tevrizian completed her Internal Medicine residency at the University of California San Francisco and did her Allergy/Immunology fellowship training at the University of California San Francisco/Stanford Program. She then worked for two years as Clinical Instructor and Practice Chief of the Allergy/Immunology Clinic at University of California San Francisco. She joined Allergy and Asthma Medical Group in 2005. Dr. Tevrizian is a member of the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology; the American College of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology; and the California Society of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology. She served on the executive board of the California Society of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology from 2002-2006, and is currently serving on the Allergy Foundation of Northern California Executive Board.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Tevrizian enjoys spending time with her family. Her hobbies include cooking, running, and music.

James A. Nickelsen, MD
Clinical practice in the Berkeley office.
Dr. Nickelsen completed his undergraduate and medical school training at Northwestern University. He then went on to residency in Pediatrics at Children’s Hospital in Buffalo, NY, followed by Allergy/Immunology fellowship at SUNY in Buffalo as well. He was an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics and Director of the Allergy/Immunology Division at East Carolina University from 1979 to 1983. He also served as the Chief of Allergy and Director of the Children’s Hospital of Oakland from 1986 to 1998. Dr. Nickelsen has been in practice in Berkeley since 1984, and joined ranks with Allergy and Asthma Medical Group in 2005. He has been a physician volunteer with the American Lung Association Summer Asthma Camp. Dr. Nickelsen is a fellow of the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology and a member of the Western Society of Asthma, Allergy and Immunology.
Dr. Nickelsen’s major interests include martial arts and spending time with his children and grandchildren.

Karna Gendo, MD
Clinical practice in Walnut Creek, Berkeley and San Ramon
Dr. Gendo received his medical degree in 1995 at UC Davis. He completed his pediatric/adult allergy immunology and internal medicine training and board certification at the University of Washington, where he served as Clinical Associate Professor of Medicine. He has worked as an attending physician at the Emergency Trauma Center at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, hospitalist and clinical services chief at Group Health Cooperative, and as staff physician at Northwest Asthma and Allergy Center. He is a member of the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology, American College of Physicians, and the Society of Hospital Medicine. He grew up in Sonoma County and has returned from the Northwest to join the Allergy and Asthma Group of the Bay Area. Dr Gendo's special interests are in enhancing chronic condition management and the Patient-Centered Medical Home. His outside interests are in classical and jazz piano.

Shilpi Anand, MD
Dr. Anand completed her Internal Medicine Residency at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Jersey and her Pediatric and Adult Allergy & Immunology fellowship training at the University of Pennsylvania, where she also published a number of papers in peer-reviewed medical journals. After working as an Allergist on the East Coast for several years, she relocated to the Bay area 3 years ago to be closer to her family. Before joining Allergy and Asthma Group of the Bay Area, Dr. Anand worked in private practice in San Francisco, and has also been active in teaching, as Assistant Clinical Professor of Medicine at UCSF. She is a member of the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma, & Immunology and the American College of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology. Dr. Anand was just voted one of Marin Magazine's 2012 Top Doctors.
When Dr. Anand is not in the office, she enjoys spending time with her family, hiking, cycling, and traveling. |
